Will MLB The Show 20 Have New Managers for Red Sox, Astros, Mets?

I have seen multiple people on OS bring up questions about how managers in MLB The Show 20 will be handled, and I think it’s a fair question. The beta is ongoing so the developers are focused on that right now, but it will be interesting to see if we get stuck with generic managers in MLB The Show 20 for the three teams (Astros, Red Sox, Mets) dealing with the ramifications stemming from Trash Cangate.

Right now, I don’t have the best handle on the situation because we have received somewhat mixed signals in the past as it relates to in-season updates for The Show. Last year, we did end up getting new scans for guys like Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Fernando Tatis Jr. after they were called up, which was great to see. They were a little delayed with the updates, but the point is we got them. We have also seen coach updates in games like NBA 2K, and we’ve seen face scan updates in other games like Madden throughout the year.

In other words, we know these things are possible, but we don’t know everything about how The Show updates its game. We also don’t know if there may be any licensing issues relating to MLB managers. So if these teams don’t hire managers by a specific date, are we not going to get them in the game? Or will this work like the updates for players do, and we’ll just have to wait a couple weeks before the developers add them to the game?

Obviously, folks are just hoping for a better franchise mode in general, but if we can’t edit managers and  really customize them, then it will be a bummer to have generic managers for these three teams. Here’s to hoping The Show developers can find a way to get new managers into the game when the time comes.
