Believe it or not, there is a large wrestling game community out there. Over the past couple years, there has been a somewhat large resurgence in looking back at old wrestling games. This has been evidenced by the large amount of content creators on YouTube playing past games such as the (mostly) well received Smackdown vs. Raw games. There have even been many retrospectives done on these games, such as the great ones from 616 Entertainment. And even these go back to the always beloved N64 games. Unfortunately, the last couple WWE 2K games before WWE 2K22 did not lead to these sorts of retrospectives. Anyone who actually played WWE 2K20 would basically only do it to make fun of it, and who could blame them? Beyond editing the game to the absolute max, it really only existed to remind us of how much better we used to have it.
This year saw some significant updates to FIFA 22’s career mode. Bringing back “Create Your Club” was a nice touch, as were the improvements to player career mode, but there’s still a lot left to improve here. Whether it’s under the hood type of improvements, or dynamic potential, or cosmetic changes to areas like generic stadiums, career mode still needs a few years to get up to speed if it wants to compete with the likes of NBA 2K‘s MyCareer. With that in mind, here are three areas where EA can dramatically improve the FIFA 23 career mode.
The seventh (and final) Feature Premiere for MLB The Show 22 was for Diamond Dynasty, esports, and live content. If you didn’t already know, I’m quite fond of Diamond Dynasty, and it’s the one card-collecting mode we focus on a lot here because we think it’s the best one — and also exploits users the least. Coming off last year, I think the general consensus was it was another step forward for DD, but folks were hoping for more single-player content and some amount of discussion around “freeze offs” and other legacy issues that hampered online play at times. Coming off the Feature Premiere, I think single-player users should be much happier, and in general it seems like the quality of life should be improved in this mode. There are a couple new concerns we’ll be monitoring, but let’s get to the news and talk about it there.
MLB The Show 22 has arrived and the big program on day one is the Faces of the Franchise Featured Program. Moving away from Inning/Team Affinity Programs and consolidating the DD grind experience, players have been treated to a launch-day feast featuring some of the best and most popular players in Major League Baseball. These cards can be acquired for free simply by playing and earning XP. This is standard fare for Diamond Dynasty, but the names involved in this initial program tower over previous iterations that typically featured under-the-radar MLB players with modest low diamonds to start the year. With 30 cards in the program to grind toward or snag off the marketplace, what better way to start the year than a good old-fashioned power ranking of the Faces of the Franchise cards in MLB The Show 22?
Sadly, the world is full of people who seemingly just want to watch the world burn, and they remain committed to making your experience in an online sports games a terrible one. On the other hand, there could be others who don’t even realize that they are doing things in the course of a game that are getting on their opponent’s nerves. In an effort to try get through to anyone in either of these groups who is willing to listen, I thought it would be a good idea to outline some of the most common ways that people can threaten to ruin a fun ballgame. Here are six unwritten rules for any and all online games in MLB The Show 22 that, if followed, will make for a better experience for all. If any of these are broken, don’t be surprised when your opponent retaliates the same way they do in the majors: with a fastball to the ribs.
