FUT Champions Cup Stage II, the second major competitive event of the EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series calendar took place in Bucharest this past weekend.
The young German Niklas ‘NR7’ Raseck, a surprise free agent for the new EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series season, showed everyone what he was capable of, by defeating current number 1 ranked Xbox competitor Fnatic Tekkz 6-2 in the Semi Final.
That wasn’t the only upset NR7 caused on route to the final, he also defeated Msdossary in the quarter final 4-3 who looked good, having gone through swiss undefeated. But it wasn’t to be, as the ‘King of the jungle’ fell short. Following NR7’s performance it will be surprising if he remains a free agent for long.
When asked about how it felt to finally win his first title Niklas responded with:
- Italian QLASH Crazy is the breakout competitor so far this season topping the PlayStation rankings having reached the semi-final at Stage I and grand final undefeated in stage II. If he can achieve the same success at stage III should he be in the conversation of favourites to win the FIFA eWorld Cup?
- Hashtag Harry a fan favourite continues to improve having reached finals day for the first time this season following a dramatic victory on penalties over Gravesen, will he and Hashtag United consistently be able to break into the top four going forward?
- FUTWIZZ Lyricz continues to look strong but he yet again failed to find a way past Fnatic Tekkz as he lost 2-0, this time in the Xbox quarter finals. With Fnatic Tekkz also knocking out FUTWIZZ Jamie in the round of 16 can the team find a solution by stage III?
- Brazil continues to show their dominance with 11 competitors qualifying for the event across Xbox and PlayStation with 6 making it to the knockout rounds, are they among the favourites for the eNations Cup?
- This week it was announced CONMEBOL eLiberatores will be part of the EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series season, registration will open in December with more details to follow.
Results are available here and content shared across the weekend is available at @EAFIFAESPORTS. NR7, Fnatic Tekkz, QLASH Crazy, Hashtag Harry and the best FIFA competitors from around the world will be returning for FUT Champions Cup Stage III on January 17.
