NHL 25 Hockey Ultimate Team Details - HUT Wildcard Mode, Overhauled Card Tiering System and More
The NHL 25 developers have shared a deep dive blog providing details on the new features and updates for Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) this year. Highlights include the introduction of a new HUT Wildcard mode, an overhauled progression system and rewards structure, as well as a revamped card tiering system, updates to the X-Factor series and more.
HUT WILDCARD MODE
NHL 25 features a brand-new HUT Wildcard mode that allows players to compete and earn rewards through a singular XP progression path. The mode features challenges that update regularly, so players need to adjust their strategies to unlock instant rewards such as packs, XP, coins, or cosmetic items. Played both on and offline, HUT Wildcard levels the playing field, eliminating the frustration some players might face going up against a highly competitive HUT team with a 99 OVR squad.
REVAMPED PROGRESSION SYSTEM AND REWARDS STRUCTURE
This year, NHL 25 streamlines how in-game rewards are handled through a singular and unified XP progression path. Regardless of which HUT mode players choose, all XP will be funneled into one XP path. So, whether winning in Squad Battles, competing in Rivals, or drafting in Wildcard, players will continue progressing through the XP path that unifies across the three main HUT modes.
REWORKED CARD TIERING, X-FACTOR SERIES AND MORE
NHL 25 has overhauled the card tiering system and player grades to give each league better representation, with star players being front and center and more gold-tier squad members featured from the top leagues.
