EA has introduced Need For Speed Unbound Dynamic Catch-Up Packs and Car Sets, offering a new approach for the way Speed Pass “catch-up” offers will work, starting from Vol. 6 content and beyond. Changes to the Speed Pass system in Vol. 6 required updates to Catch-Up Packs moving forward. While existing Vol. 2-5 packs remain unchanged, Vol. 6-9 will see slight adjustments.
In Vol. 6, the Premium Speed Pass became the exclusive way to access premium content. They transitioned from a free Speed Pass with premium DLC to a streamlined system solely through the Speed Pass progression. This setup includes:
- – 45 Free Tiers: Available to all players.
- – 30 Premium Tiers: An optional upgrade within the Premium Speed Pass.
This change allowed them to focus efforts on delivering higher quality content through the Speed Pass while providing meaningful new gameplay for all players, free of charge, in each new volume.
Each volume guarantees the delivery of at least two cars:
- – One car accessible through the free Speed Pass track.
- – Another premium car instantly unlocked with the Premium Speed Pass.
Recognizing the significant investment in their fully customizable cars, it didn’t make sense for them to offer these under the same time-limited conditions as their purely cosmetic customization options and Rare Customs. To ensure fairness, the Catch-Up Packs have been divided into two options:
Dynamic Catch-Up Packs ($2.99)
- – For Non-Premium Speed Pass owners: Instant access to the 45 free tiers of content from the Speed Pass, including the free track car.
- – For Premium Speed Pass owners: Instant access to the 45 free tiers plus the 30 premium tiers.
Car Sets ($4.99)
- – Each Premium Speed Pass includes a new premium car. These cars will be available for non-Premium Speed Pass owners to catch up on.
- – Car Sets include the base car and multiple bodykits for full customization.
