NBA 2K25 Will Finally Be Current Gen on PC

One of the big sticking points in recent years for the NBA 2K series has been the lack of updates for the PC version of the game. Well, that’s finally being fixed this year as the PC version of NBA 2K25 will be on the current-gen game engine.

The NBA 2K modding community remains a big part of the scene on PC, but it was absolutely being held back to some degree because the PC versions had been on the last-gen engine even with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S being on the new gen/current gen engine. Now that the Steam version of the game will be in step with other current-gen consoles, this means that barrier is removed.

In other words, Eras mode should be even more awesome this year, and it means I’m likely going to be buying NBA 2K25 on PC. The NBA 2K modding community is incredible, and while it’s hard to know ahead of time how things will look, this certainly improves the chances that NBA 2K25 on PC will be the place to be if you care about franchise mode and offline modes overall.

It does not appear we will have cross-platform support between PC and consoles, so that remains a bummer. It means roster sharing and such will not be as easy to deal with across all version of the current-gen game, but otherwise 2K did not mention any other major issues today.
