In basketball, rebounding is one of the most critical aspects of the sport and it’s no different in NBA 2K24 or any NBA 2K for that matter. If you’re getting out-rebounded by your opponent, then there’s a great chance that you’re going to lose the game. If you’re allowing offenses to get the ball back and get those second chance points, then you’re cooked.
So if you’re big on rebounding in MyCareer and Park, then you should take pride in that because you play an incredibly pivotal role in your team’s success. But, if you’re someone who’s new to playing as a forward or center and are creating one for the first time, it’s sometimes hard to tell what your Vertical rating should be.
Well, it depends on the height of your MyPlayer. If he’s 7-foot or taller, then a 75 Vertical is a good minimum since you already have size and length. However, feel free to give the Vertical a little bump if you so wish — just know that it may keep you from tweaking other attributes.
If you’re shorter, then something in the 80s is plenty comfortable, especially if you’re 6-foot-10 where you still have size and length to your advantage over smaller bigs. Going with something like 6-foot-7 or 6-foot-8, which is basically Charles Barkley and Dennis Rodman size, will definitely require a little higher Vertical in order to grab more boards.
Vertical is also great for dunking as a higher rating will help you unlock new dunk packages. So, if you’re looking to make a MyPlayer who’s skilled at rebounding and finishing, then that Vertical will come in handy for you in more ways than one.
Also, make sure to always test out your builds. See how well you rebound with your MyPlayer against the CPU before making your final verdict. If you find yourself really struggling, then you may need to bump up the Vertical some more. But if you’re out there snagging boards like they’re going out of style, then you should be ready to go.
Rebounding will look excellent for your MyPlayer overall. Grabbing boards themselves count on the stat sheet and go towards your Teammate Grade, which will give you more Rep the higher the grade is after the game. Plus, after grabbing a defensive rebound, you can easily get assists in Park, as teammates are usually already running to the other side of the court waiting for the pass.
So after Park or Rec games, you can easily find yourself with plenty of rebounds and a good chunk of assists. Even if you didn’t score any points, that’s always a very strong game. Not to mention, you’ll definitely get your scoring opportunities too along the way, so you’ll have a little bit of everything on the stat sheet.
