NBA 2K24 sees the return of the “Green or Miss” approach in City and Rec games, and with that players are focusing more on improving their shooting (depending on their MyPlayer build) than ever before and 2K knows that. This is why they’ve included popular NBA skills coach Chris “Lethal Shooter” Matthews in The City so players can head to his gym and improve their hot zones by upgrading them the purple-colored Lethal Zone.
But aside from that and just choosing a jump shot to get comfortable with, players can also help their shooting with a new setting that’s available in the game. Well, it’s not really new, it just got a name change. However, it’s still a setting that can be ignored if you’re not careful. and it’s called Visual Cue.
This feature in NBA 2K24 determines when’s the best time to release the shot button to achieve the green release. This was a feature that was available in NBA 2K23 as well but it was called Shot Timing Release Time. There were four options for that: Very Early, Early, Late, and Very Late. For Visual Cue, the options are Jump, Set Point, Push, and Release. Let’s talk about which one is which, and you can also head here to get a general explanation.
This is essentially the Very Early option in NBA 2K24. The key release point is essentially right after your player’s feet leave the ground on the jump shot. This is the green release window that is right before our next option which is Set Point.
The key spot for Set Point is right before your player begins to let go of the basketball. This is at the top of the jump shot and is basically the Early option from NBA 2K23.
So this is actually the default Visual Cue setting in NBA 2K24. Right after Set Point, the green window here is when the player begins to push the ball out of his hands. The hands will still be on the ball but barely. This is the Late option.
This Visual Cue option is right after the player releases the ball. The tips of his fingers may still be touching it but otherwise the ball is basically out. This is considered the Very Late release.
