NBA 2K20 MyTeam: Moments of the Week 6 Analysis

The NBA 2K20 MyTeam crew is kicking things up to the next DEFCON level with some of these recent drops, and the Moments of the Week 6 are another step in the power creep seeping into the game. This has positives and negatives, but let’s hold off on those discussions for now and dig into a deep group of players for MOTW 6.

(PS, some great jersey selections in the player portraits this week.)

NBA 2K20 MyTeam

Allen has 75 speed, 85 standing dunk, 80 post moves, 89 interior defense, 88 help defense, 94 block, 87 offensive rebound and 88 defensive rebound. He has gold Box, Pogo Stick, Brick Wall, Worm, and Pick and Roller.

At 6-foot-11, Allen has good wingspan and his speed is actually solid for a big. I think he can have some success as a budget rim running player who plays solid defense, but I think there are so many good budget options at this emerald tier and below that it’s hard to recommend him still.

NBA 2K20 MyTeam

House has 90 3-point shooting, 70 offensive consistency, 78 speed, 75 speed with ball, 85 perimeter defense, 85 help defense, 85 lateral quickness, 84 steal. He has gold Catch and Shoot, Corner Specialist, Flexible Release, Green Machine, Quick Draw, Clamps, Trapper, Pick Pocket and Pogo Stick.

We’ve been getting a ton of emerald and ruby tier 3-and-D options in recent weeks and House adds to the list. He’s even more stuck in a role with his otherwise paltry offensive stats beyond the 3-point shooting, but if you like his shooting form, this card makes sense to use. His PF eligibility is perhaps helpful in some regards, but he’s only 6-foot-7 so it probably won’t work out too well sliding him to PF most of the time.

NBA 2K20 MyTeam

Whiteside has 66 speed, 86 strength, 85 standing dunk, 82 post moves, 85 hands, 85 interior defense, 85 help defense, 80 pick and roll defense, 95 block, 90 shot contest, 92 offensive rebounding and 98 defensive rebounding. He gets gold Backdown Punisher, Dropstepper, Box, Brick Wall, Chase Down Artist, Intimidator, Pogo Stick, Post Move Lockdown, Rim Protector, Rebound Chaser and Worm.

Whiteside did the thing where he gets a lot of blocks (10 in one game) and makes some people believe he’s good on D, so good on him for that trickery once again. The thing about Hassan is he’s generally way overrated in 2K games, and in this case I mean that in terms of he plays well over his ratings. In part, that’s because he usually has decent speed to go with the 7-foot frame and great wingspan. Video games also struggle to show a player whose motor goes on and off all the time, so you always get peak Whiteside, which helps as well. All in all, I bet this card is a very good ruby.

NBA 2K20 MyTeam

Warren gets 84 mid-range, 86 3-point shooting, 74 speed, 92 driving layup, 92 draw foul, 72 speed with ball and 79 ball handling. For badges, he has gold Acrobat, Catch and Shoot, Corner Specialist, Quick Draw and Flexible Release.

Not much that I love about this card. Warren has a decent shot release, but his shooting is not quite elite, and he can’t quite do enough off the bounce. As a 6-foot-8 player, if he were just a little faster he might be somewhat intriguing as a small-ball four, but yeah, that didn’t happen.

NBA 2K20 MyTeam

Going up a tier, Valanciunas has 84 mid-range, 80 3-point shooting, 65 speed, 94 strength, 85 standing dunk, 80 post moves, 89 post hook, 95 hands, 85 interior defense, 88 help defense, 89 block, 82 shot contest, 95 offensive rebounding and 95 defensive rebounding. For badges, he’s got HOF Backdown Punisher, Box, Brick Wall and Moving Truck. The gold badges include Dropstepper, Deep Hooks, Catch and Shoot, Pick and Popper, and Worm.

Jonas adds to the pile of solid all-around stretch fives who can play some defense. I never have much success with Valanciunas in 2K, but this one has more defense than most, and he’s going to be able to help you on defense and the boards. He does not get Quick Draw (nor should he) so the shot will be slow, but this looks like an okay card.

NBA 2K20 MyTeam

Hield gets 95 mid-range, 95 3-point shooting, 98 offensive consistency, 85 speed, 85 acceleration, 89 driving layup, 84 speed with ball, 86 ball handling, 85 perimeter defense, 85 help defense and 85 lateral quickness. For badges, he’s rocking HOF Catch and Shoot, Corner Specialist, Green Machine, Slipper Off-Ball, Tireless Shooter and Volume Shooter. He also gets gold Deadeye, Flexible Release, Steady Shooter, Quick Draw and Range Extender.

Buddy got a Moments of the Week card back in Week 4 that was a ruby, and this one has similar shooting ratings, it’s just he gets better badges now and some more athleticism. As I say with most Hield cards, his shot is generally easy to get used to, so he’ll usually play above his ratings and be someone you can’t leave on defense. I will blanket recommend most Hield cards for that reason, and this one is no different.

NBA 2K20 MyTeam

Antetokounmpo comes equipped with 75 mid-range, 75 3-point shooting, 93 speed, 90 acceleration, 98 driving layup, 85 standing dunk, 97 draw foul, 84 post moves, 80 post hook, 87 speed with ball, 86 ball handling, 86 interior defense, 92 perimeter defense, 89 help defense, 89 pick and roll defense, 85 lateral quickness, 90 reaction time, 85 steal, 82 blocking and 94 defensive rebounding. For HOF badges, he has Consistent Finisher, Relentless Finisher, Contact Finisher and Fancy Footwork. For gold badges, it includes gold Downhill, Chase Down Artist, Clamps, Heart Crusher, Intimidator, Trapper, Defensive Leader, Lightning Reflexes and Tireless Defender.

Ho hum, Giannis got another diamond. This one is not too different from the Spotlight Series Zeke Thomas one, but does get a little better dunking ratings and even more speed. He also has a +5 to 3-point shooting, which should not be overlooked. Do I really need to tell you if a Giannis card is good in 2K? Come on, you know this card is cheese.

NBA 2K20 MyTeam

AD has 80 mid-range, 82 3-point shooting, 79 speed, 95 standing dunk, 90 driving dunk, 92 post moves, 93 post fade, 93 post hook, 95 interior defense, 95 help defense, 97 reaction time, 88 block, 96 shot contest, 96 offensive rebounding and 95 defensive rebounding. He gets HOF Cross-Key Scorer, Lob City Finisher, Pick and Roller, Relentless Finisher, Intimidator and Rim Protector. On top of that, he has gold Backdown Punisher, Deep Fades, Pick and Popper, Quick Draw, Box, Heart Crusher, Rebound Chaser, Post Move Lockdown, Defensive Leader, Tireless Defender.

With this diamond version of AD, you’re getting considerable boosts to shooting over the original Moments AD. That is no small thing because now he’s a real threat as the stretch five, and he still has the same quality attributes elsewhere to make up for the harder closeouts. On top of that, with HOF Intimidator he remains a great anchor on the backline of a defense. This is a very good card, and it should add to the prevalence of AD already out there.

NBA 2K20 MyTeam

Siakam has 87 mid-range, 88 3-point shooting, 84 speed, 82 acceleration, 90 driving layup, 90 standing dunk, 80 driving dunk, 81 post moves, 79 speed with ball, 86 interior defense, 86 perimeter defense, 88 help defense, 83 pick and roll defense, 85 lateral quickness, 85 steal, 85 block, 94 offensive rebounding and 94 defensive rebounding. His seven HOF badges are Contact Finisher, Pick and Roller, Catch and Shoot, Corner Specialist, Pick and Popper, Post Spin Technician and Defensive Leader. He tops it off with gold Dream Shake, Quick Draw, Box, Chase Down Artist, Clamps Brick Wall, Heart Crusher, Interceptor, Intimidator, Lightning Reflexes, Off-Ball Pest, Pick Dodger, Pick Pocket, Pogo Stick, Rebound Chaser, Rim Protector, Trapper and Worm.

Siakam gets improved shooting over his original Moments diamond, and also oodles more HOF badges. This card is sick. It’s an actual defensive freak show, and you’re not going to have any problems running the floor with him or scoring from the perimeter. He has positional flexibility as well, so you can just maul some small forwards who end up playing up a position from shooting guard.

An amazing card, no question.

NBA 2K20 MyTeam

Harden’s got 90 mid-range, 94 3-point shooting, 87 speed, 87 acceleration, 98 driving layup, 84 driving dunk, 98 draw foul, 84 post fade, 87 speed with ball, 97 ball handling, 81 help defense, 80 lateral quickness, 90 reaction time and 83 steal. His HOF badges are Consistent Finisher, Contact Finisher, Fancy Footwork, Relentless Finisher, Deadeye, Difficult Shots, Flexible Release, Green Machine, Tireless Shooter, Volume Shooter and Tight Handles. On top of that, he has gold Quick Draw, Range Exteder, Steady Shooter, Ankle Breaker, Dimer, Floor General, Handles For Days, Quick First Step and Unpluckable.

60 points in three quarters gets you pink diamond status. This is his first pink diamond of the season, and his height is also back at 6-foot-5 for this combo guard version, which is different from the 6-foot-4 diamond combo guard version from earlier this season (yeah, still don’t know what that was all about). He’s heavily tilted towards offense as any Harden card should be, but he’s not a total net-negative on defense in this version. I mean, it’s by no means who you want out there on defense, but the offensive gifts are so prodigious, you just do the standard thing and try to hide him on the easiest matchup, and then reap the benefits on offense.

If you want to lock in this collection (I would not recommend it), you will get 100 tokens to add to the pile. Seriously though, don’t lock in this collection. It’s rarely a good idea when we’re still at the point where we will get many more versions of these cards.

Also, a reminder that the Week 13 challenges are up for easy MT and 6 tokens.
