NBA 2K20 MyTeam: David Thompson Pack

I assume we will still get Moments of the Week 3 today (double pack drop day!), but in the interim, we got a somewhat surprising Legacy Showcase pack, featuring David Thompson.

David Thompson is a 6-foot-4 combo guard/forward who is afraid of no man when soaring through the sky. He has HOF Pogo Stick, Lob City Finisher, Contact Finisher, Fastbreak Finisher, Relentless Finisher and Giant Slayer. He also has gold Quick Draw. There’s not much to hate about this card overall. His shooting from outside is just okay, including some bad cold zones, and HOF Pogo Stick is only so good when he’s 6-foot-4 and doesn’t have any perimeter-centric defensive badges. Otherwise, this card looks good. I don’t think he’s exactly meta, but even without Clamps, he does have good defensive attributes. Oh, and having 98 driving dunk isn’t too shabby either.

Working from the bottom up with the other three cards in this pack, Ryan Hollins somehow gets a ruby card. He has 84 speed, some solid defensive and finishing badges, but overall, this is one of those cards where you’re just better off using a lower tier of card to save on contract MT. Good for Ryan Hollins though, that analyst gig is paying off.

The A.C. Green looks far more interesting. He’s a 6-foot-9 combo forward who has gold Quick Draw. He has great hot zones, 84 shooting from 3-point land, and I could see this being a good budget amethyst after the initial push. He doesn’t have Clamps, but he has various other gold badges that make him a very good all-around player who can hit shots from all three levels while also posting up.

The last card is a Larry Nance diamond. This means there are no evolution cards in this batch, womp womp. As for the Nance, he’s a 6-foot-10 combo forward with HOF Pogo Stick, Tireless Defender, Fastbreak Finisher, Rim Protector and Lob City Finisher. This card is obviously much better than his emerald version, and I think of this as a weaker version of the David Thompson in a bigger frame. I don’t usually love Larry Nance cards, but this is definitely a good version of him. He will be a great finisher and good in a frenetic-style defense.

Oh, and by the way, 2K dropped a locker code today. Yes, I did win the 75 tokens:
