When it comes to the photographic side of things, our community can get artsy when it wants to. With MLB The Show 24 screenshots, the community likes to put together action shots, scenic shots, and everything in between.
I have previously highlighted our threads for Web Gems and home runs, but the photo thread is the catch-all spot for any MLB The Show 24 screenshots that community members think are particularly sick. We do this thread for all the major sports games, but baseball is unique in that the stadiums and time of day fluctuate a lot.
One criticism of The Show this generation has been a feeling that the graphics have not really gone to that next level, and overall I think that’s a valid criticism. However, some of the beauty in The Show can go unnoticed to some extent because it either comes out only at specific times or gets lost by only playing from “normal” gameplay angles — or by ignoring the presentation that is highlighted at other times.
Something like dusk in Boston, which was shared by OS user jcar0725, can’t be seen at this specific angle very often. The skies in The Show do look very impressive at times, and obviously this specific time of day is only going to show up for a short period of time during the game anyway.
This same idea of not always getting enough shots that really make the game pop can also be seen with the stadium shots. Gameplay comes first, which means there is only so many moments to cut to sick blimp shots and so on.
As OS user TarHeelPhenom shows, a 7 p.m. game at Yankees Stadium looks great:
Coming back around to jcar0725, while the game doesn’t always pop, some of the faces are downright impressive, such as Zac Gallen here.
In fact, a couple of the Diamondbacks are probably some of the most impressive facial scans in the entire game. Someone like Corbin Carroll also comes off extremely well this year.
Even something like the Polo Grounds does not look great most of the time to me in MLB The Show 24, but OS user hoopheid has done a great job throughout the thread showcasing some of the beauty of these stadiums with nice angles.
Facial gestures are a final thing I want to call out as not being noticed enough because, again, you’re not going to get tons of chances to see the faces of these players up close.
TarHeelPhenom shows off the sort of stuff you might miss if you’re not paying attention as someone like Austin Riley steps into the batter’s box.
Feel free to head to the thread and share your own screenshots as the MLB season continues to heat up.
