MLB The Show 21: 7th Inning Program Guide and Overview

Hammerin’ Hank has finally arrived. The 7th Inning is upon us in MLB The Show 21 Diamond Dynasty, and the elusive 99 overall Hank Aaron is one of the 7th Inning Bosses. Joining 99 overall Milestone Hank Aaron is Future Stars Spencer Torkelson and Signature Series Tony Gwynn. The 6th Inning really ended up getting lost in the shuffle as Team Affinity 4 really sucked the air out of the room. I don’t think the same problem will occur here (at least not right away) because Hank Aaron was probably one of the last big cards people have been waiting to get a look at. That said, we’re going to be looking for Finest and Postseason cards soon enough (plus some Run It Back promotions), so it’s still going to be interesting to watch how this program unfolds. They have certainly lost some juice as the year has gone on (which is normal), and these inning programs are in danger of becoming window dressing for good as we move into the late stages of Diamond Dynasty for this season.

Still, let’s go through all the new cards and see what’s involved here so far.

MLB The Show 21 7th Inning Program Guide

Showdown

7th Inning Showdown

As expected with no 7th Inning Bosses being pitchers, Monthly Awards Dylan Bundy is who I went up against here. I would not be shocked if Signature Series Johnny Cueto might be another option. This Showdown seems even easier than usual because you get runs for beating the mini Showdown as well.

You get The Show packs (x10) and 35,000 XP for beating the Final Showdown.

Conquest

7th Inning Kraken Map

The first Conquest map is the Kraken map. You need to steal 7 million fans, but otherwise it’s an ordinary map. You will get a Field of Dreams pack at the end of it and 25,000 XP.

7th Inning Cubes Conquest Map

With the second Conquest map, you have to conquer the Diamondbacks on the first turn. Otherwise, you just need to conquer all the territories to get 25,000 XP.

Missions

There are the three usual online missions, and now we’re getting Extra Innings mission right from the start as well, which is nice. And, of course, more missions will be added throughout the program.

  • Competitive Dubs – Win 10 games in online modes (7,500 XP)

Collections And Moments

Note: For any old player programs from prior Innings, they still exist if you have not completed them yet. However, you won’t get the XP for “collecting” the cards in the new Inning, nor do you get XP for the prior Inning Program anymore once it is gone.

We kick off with a player program to go with the inning program on day one, which is a rarity. The first player program is for Milestone Joe Carter.
