MLB The Show 20 Event: The Show Goes On Overview and Quick Tips
We’ve been playing MLB The Show 20 for close to a week now, but for those picking up the game today (or hopefully getting it delivered or downloaded digitally instead to be socially conscious!), we’re going to give you some heads up about the new content you’ll see when you head into Diamond Dynasty. We highlighted the First Inning Program, so next up is the first event you’ll see this year, which is “The Show Goes On” event. This event was originally titled “Baseball’s Back” but obviously that has changed.
The structure of events in the past was you play until you get X number of wins to get the reward player, and then you stop unless you want to keep trying to get 12 wins to get a diamond player. That structure is still in place for the most part, but the developers have focused on trying to keep people playing events for longer so they’re using a structure they started to use at the end of last year by providing more short and long-term rewards. So this means you still care about individual entries as well as your runs as a whole because there are separate goals for each, but the cumulative rewards go on for a longer period now.
But first, let’s get the basics out of the way.

- Ends April 2 at 2 a.m. PST
- All live series players
- Diamond and gold legends and flashbacks
- Max team overall of 85
- 3-inning games
- All-Star difficulty
- Free entries (as always)
Rewards
- 20 wins: 1 gold player
- 30 wins: 5 The Show packs
- 40 wins: Diamond Rookie Felix Hernandez
- 45 wins: Ballin’ Is A Habit pack
- 50 wins: 5 The Show packs
- 60 wins: Classic Stadium choice pack
- 70 wins: Diamond Brooks Robinson
- 80 wins: 10 The Show packs
- 90 Wins: Prospects Set 1 choice pack
- 100 wins: 20 The Show packs
Quick Tips And Notes
-Winning 70 games is a daunting task so don’t feel like you have to do it. These rewards are sellable so if you want Brooks Robinson you can always get him in the community market as well since his price will go down as more people acquire him.
-Pitching matters more now in these events. You can now look at keeping more starters on your team because you can select your pitcher before the game. A good rule of thumb is keep three decent starters now because that’s about how long it takes for them to be back at full stamina between starts. You need more bullpen options as well for this reason — assuming you want to try to win 12 games in an entry.
-Just relax and try to have fun. Three-inning games can be frustrating for some, but you can get in and out of games fast if you’re getting beaten down and just try again. The entries are free so be flexible.
-Setting your lineup between entries is frustrating, and no it does not save your previous lineup still.
-You can forfeit your entry at any point, so if you lose a game and just want to start on the next entry, feel free to do that.
