Milestone Ken Griffey Jr. Added to Diamond Dynasty
In what could be the final big collection of the year, we finally get the 99 overall Milestone Ken Griffey Jr. card. He’s rocking a Reds uniform since that’s when his big milestone home run was hit, and yes it feels a little weird. Either way, this is the big new collection to go with the Team Affinity 5 Program.
Milestone Ken Griffey Jr. Collection
Here he is:
As usual with the Milestone cards, it’s a little weird because obviously Griffey Jr. wasn’t this good anymore when he hit some of his most historical home runs — and thus feels like another version of a Signature Series card — but still bask in its glory. He’s a five-tool outfielder in every sense, and there’s no question he’s a monster at the plate.
Collections Required
There are 18 collections available, and you need to do 15 of them to get Griffey Jr. It’s not as bad as the Kershaw collection or Ohtani collection at first glance (in terms of cost), especially if you’ve already done most of the other collections and thus have a ton of cards already.
I’ll highlight a couple of the collections that seem cost prohibitive right now, but this seems mostly doable if you’ve been playing Diamond Dynasty all season.
- 50 Veteran players (54 available) — This one will hurt the stubs total if you’ve fallen behind. You can grab one gold Veteran player in the latest Battle Royale program, but if you haven’t stayed on top of this, you’re going to pay for it somewhere.
- 60 All-Star players (72 available)
- 35 Breakout players (37 available) — This one could hurt since the pool of players is small, but you can’t get to it anyway unless you’ve stayed on top of the player programs all year.
- 50 Rookie players (64 available)
- 30 Future Stars players (41 available)
- 60 Monthly Awards players (74 available)
- 125 Topps Now players (136 available) — This one will cost as usual if you sold any Topps Now players or just have not kept on them all year.
- 40 Signature Series players (52 available)
- 40 Awards players (55 available)
- 22 Prime players (28 available) — Folks were bracing for this one to cost a lot, but SDS gave us some leeway here and it brought prices on Prime cards down as well.
- 40 Prospects players (41 available) — This is one that definitely hurts if you sold any players in the past. In theory, you should have most of these players from packs throughout the year, but a couple of the diamonds are soaring in price now.
- 30 2nd Half Heroes (37 available)
- 60 Milestone players (83 available)
- 42 Series Jackie Robinson
- 2021 All-Star Shohei Ohtani
- 60 Postseason players (68 available)
- 45 2021 Finest players (64 available)
Other Goodies
You’ll get a Milestone Jimmie Foxx if you finish 8 of the collections.

Bottom Line
I’m thankful SDS mostly took mercy on us and made it easy enough to grab this Milestone Ken Griffey Jr. late in the cycle. Since we sort of knew it was coming, it lacks a little punch of excitement. That said, SDS took the approach of overwhelming us with cool cards this week in general, and I’m fine with that approach.
