Madden NFL 23 Play Now Live Update Won't Arrive Until Week 10
As many users have noticed, the Madden NFL 23 Play Now Live updates haven’t been touched since Week 1. EA has confirmed the next update won’t arrive until week 10. The Play Now Live splash page still shows Week 1 and states we can play real NFL matchups every week of the season.
Instead of a weekly update to play the game online with friends or start a Franchise Mode with the most up to date rosters, fans will need to wait until the Week 10 roster update to get the most recent rosters.
Hey Franchise fans,
We wanted to provide some clarity on Play Now Live updates for Madden NFL 23. You’ve seen Play Now Live receive updates for the Week 1 of the preseason and Week 1 of the regular season.
You can expect to see Play Now Live updates for the following weeks:
-
- Week 10 of the Regular Season
- Wild Card Round
- Super Bowl
If this update cadence changes, we will be sure to let you know.
-The Madden Team
The OS community has mentioned numerous times why this could be happening, but EA hasn’t announced a reason officially. CM Hooe summarized what has been mentioned across our Madden Forums.
People including myself have speculated elsewhere that the feature may have limited support this year due to either (or possibly both of):
-
- Limited access to Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis to record new commentary to go with the Play Now Live content. Historically, Play Now Live includes new commentary from these two every week talking about the goings-on in the real life NFL. It is possible that as Gaudin and Davis have seen their NFL roles increase in visibility and importance, their availability to record weekly commentary for Tiburon has decreased.
- Limited man-hours available inside Tiburon due to the ongoing development of EA Sports College Football, due out for release next June.
All we can do is speculate for now until EA actually announces the reasoning for it.
