Madden NFL 20 MUT: Blitz Promo Guide
The Blitz promo launched last night in Madden 20 MUT. It got off to a little bit of a rocky start with the first House Rules having a de-sync issue when a QB would scramble, and some could not get on for the first limited-time pack release due to EA’s servers struggling with the traffic (we will see if EA does anything to rectify that situation for those who missed out). That being said, this is generally one of the most talked about periods in MUT, so read on to get the full breakdown of what’s here.
What Is The Blitz Promo?
In short, it’s the time EA really hopes you buy packs with real money. I mean EA always wants you to spend money in this mode, but with Blitz it’s the way to try and entice you with some of the best deals there will be all year. EA taps into the vibes of Black Friday with some very time-limited packs (only live for 10 minutes for the best packs) and constantly changes other things up to keep you coming back multiple times a day (hopefully).
It runs from 11/28 to 12/3 (but you will have until 12/9 to get the Masters) and has revolving deals and players who go in and out of stock around the clock. There are also House Rules that change every 24 hours, new Solos, and a lot of the other extras you would expect from a normal MUT promo.
It also tends to “crash” the auction house in terms of prices coming down quite a bit, which makes sense with so many people opening packs. To fully maximize these dips in prices, you want to have coins to burn when the best packs are being opened. Some people will auction off their players without having a great understanding of what they really cost, so you can find some amazing deals during these brief moments in time.
What Is The Currency?
Normally the currency in MUT is Training, coins or points (aka real money). But during this limited-time event, the main currency is Blitz Boltz and points. That’s right, your coins and training are mostly useless here, sorry. Again, this event is really about spending money (if you want to), and EA tries to push you in that direction. In fact, to do the Masters in this set you essentially have to spend money to get there. There is no real clean way around it.
Sorry.
Those Boltz will then play into the Master Tickets, as you use Boltz to buy players who then also give you Master Tickets, as you can see here:
You can also get Master Tickets by buying packs in the “Blitz Boltz Packs” section of the store with Boltz:
Boltz being converted into Tickets will lead you to the Masters:
The Masters
You’re using these Boltz to get Tickets if you want to acquire the Lamar Jackson and Chris Johnson Masters:
We detail these two cards, their strengths/weaknesses, and all the other players here.
How Do I Earn Blitz Boltz?
There are a variety of ways to earn Boltz right now. You have House Rules, Solos, buying packs, and simply logging into the game every so often throughout the day.
First there are Solos. You can get 950 Boltz and 25K coins from these as of today. Your best course of action is to play all of these on two stars, don’t push it and go to three stars because there’s really no need. The House Rules can be seen there in the image as well, and those will tie into the bonus stars you get during the situations in Solos.
EA will presumably add more Solos during the event, but we’ll have to wait and see to be sure.
If you want to play online, House Rules will also play into things.
Online House Rules will change every 24 hours. As you can see in this initial version, the offense has one drive to score a touchdown and the defense has to stop them late in the fourth quarter. You get 25 Boltz for a win and none for a loss. This is not great value for Boltz, but the games will go fast. However, this is part of why you will not be able to avoid spending money in this event if you want the Master cards. At 25 Boltz per win, you basically need the equivalent of a World of Warcraft gold-farming operation to reach the needed threshold.
You can also get Boltz by simply checking in every 8 hours to trade 500 coins for 100 Boltz:
You will find that offer within the “Blitz Offers” tab of the Store, but it will also most likely pop up in the main menu of Ultimate Team as well.
Boltz (and Tickets) will be tied to packs you buy, as you can see here:
With that “Elite/All-Pro Blitz Bundle” you will get 8,900 Boltz on top of the pack(s). But notice that you can only buy those packs with Points, there is no Coins or Training option.
What Are The Pack Offers?
They change all the time, and they fall under the “Blitz Offers” tab. These packs are limited to a certain number per account, and with some of them the windows you can buy them are as small as 10 minutes. The best offers all happen at midnight each night, and these are the offers that last only 10 minutes — sorry non-night owls.
Here is the schedule (all times EST) and number of packs you can buy:
- Theme Diamond Fantasy Pack (can buy 2) – 11/29 at 12 a.m. — 10-minute offer
- Superstar Blitz Bundle (2) – 11/29 at 12 a.m. — 12-hour offer
- Elite/All-Pro Blitz Bundle (2) – 11/29 at 12 p.m. — 12-hour offer
- 24x Gridiron Bundle (1) – 11/30 at 12 a.m. – 10-minute offer
- MUT Heroes Blitz Bundle (5) – 11/30 at 12 a.m. – 12-hour offer
- Legends Blitz Bundle (1) – 11/30 at 12 p.m. EST – 12-hour offer
- NFL 100 Centennial Pack (1) – 12/1 at 12 a.m. – 10-minute offer
- Most Feared Blitz Bundle (2) – 12/1 at 12 a.m. – 12-hour offer
- TOTW Blitz Bundle (4) – 12/1 at 12 p.m. – 12-hour offer
- Series Redux Fantasy Pack (2) – 12/2 at 12 a.m. – 10-minute offer
- Harvest Blitz Bundle (2) – 12/2 at 12 a.m. – 12-hour offer
- Gamechanger/Clutch Blitz Bundle (2) – 12/2 at 12 p.m. EST – 12-hour offer
There are also other packs that will be time-limited and scheduled out in the “Blitz Boltz Packs” as can be seen here:
We won’t list every single one of these packs. However, understand that they also have a personal limit, and they rotate every four hours during the day, and then every 8 hours between midnight and 8 a.m. These are also solid value, but the packs we detailed before this are where the best packs will be found. Still, you do get Tickets from these packs, which gives them that appeal.
What Cards Are New?
We broke down the cards in a separate article, and mentioned the Masters earlier as well. In short, the players in this promo are released for a limited time during a set schedule. Within MUT, you can find that schedule under “Blitz Boltz Players” in the Store:
In total, there are 18 standard Boltz players, plus the two Masters, and then whatever Limited cards EA decides to release during the event — so far EA has released two Limited cards. You can also buy these cards in the auction house with coins (like normal), you just won’t get the Tickets attached to them like you would if you bought them with Boltz.
