How to Turn the Shot Meter On or Off in NBA 2K25

NBA 2K25 is here and there are a lot of changes that came to the game. But even when there’s new things available each year, there’s always the classic debate of “should you have your shot meter on or off?” For the most part, having the meter off provides a benefit as it gives you a slight boost in your shooting. However, leaving it on might be more comfortable for players looking for a visual indicator.

Whatever you decide, it’s always good to choose which option is best for you. Go back and forth a bit and see which one you enjoy most. That said, how do you turn the meter on or off to begin with? In the past, you’d simply go to Controller Settings and turn it off but things are slightly different this time.

Instead of Controller Settings, go to Features, then Customize HUD, then Shot Meter Shots, and here is where you can turn off your shot meter. You can turn it off for jumpers, layups, and free throws. Turn them all off or mix and match if you wish.

This effects the meter for modes like Play Now, but if you want to turn it off in MyCareer/The City, it’s basically the same exact thing. When you’re just walking around The City, hit the pause button to pull up your menu. Then you want to go to MyPLAYER. After that, go to Animations and then make your way over to Customize HUD like we talked about earlier.

You can also go to Controller Settings and look for Shot Meter Input Type. You’ll then be given the option of when the shot meter pops up when you shoot. You can make it appear when using the Pro Stick or when you use the shot button — or you can have it on for both.

So, if you want to turn the meter off, you have to decide which control you use the most when shooting: the Pro Stick or the shot button. Once you know your tendency, set up the shot meter to appear for only the other option so if you only shoot with the shot button, select “Pro Stick Only” under Shot Meter Input Type.

And so overall, you have a couple of different ways to switch the meter on and off whether you’re playing in Play Now, The City, or The W. And of course, if you’re playing in The City or The W, make sure to choose a good jump shot animation to get acclimated with because that will make a huge difference in your shooting.
