F1 23
F1 23 Release Date, F1 World, Red Flags, Trailer & More Revealed
EA and Codemasters have announced F1 23 will be released on June 16 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC through Epic Games Store, Steam and the EA App. Players that pre-order the digital-exclusive Champions Edition will get three days of early access on June 13.
F1 23 will feature a return of the Braking Point story mode, as well as the highly anticipated Las Vegas Grand Prix and Losail International Circuit. Additionally, the game will introduce F1 World, red flags, 35% race distances, legacy circuits and upgraded handling based on actual feedback from F1 teams.
The Braking Point story mode makes a comeback with a new story following the careers of Aiden Jackson and protagonist Devon Butler, who are now teammates for Konnersport Racing Team, a new team competing against the established real-world F1 teams and drivers. The storyline introduces new characters, rivalries, and challenges as both Aiden and Devon strive to take their careers to the next level.
F1 23 boasts an upgraded handling system resulting in more predictable car behavior. The game’s new vehicle physics also provide better traction for braking, accelerating and cornering. By incorporating feedback from real F1 teams, a more realistic balance between aerodynamics and tire grip is achieved. Engine torque and inertia have also been improved, providing players with more authentic throttle control and a greater sense of connection to the car. Furthermore, the game’s Precision Drive controller technology ensures better control and confidence for players who use a gamepad during critical race moments.
Based on community feedback, F1 23 introduces a new race distance option of 35%, which offers a balanced experience between the previously available short and long race options. Red flags also make their debut, adding a new strategic element to the game where quick reactions can alter the outcome of a race for better or worse. In addition to the full 2023 season calendar that now includes Las Vegas and Lusail, the game also includes three legacy circuits: Paul Ricard (France), Shanghai (China) and Portimão (Portugal), all confirmed to be available at launch.
F1 23 will also feature an all-new F1 World hub offering players a fresh experience with content inspired by the real-world calendar. This hub brings together various game modes, including Time Trial and Grand Prix, providing an exciting new way to play the game. A new progression system enables players to level up by completing challenges, unlocking car upgrades, new liveries, race suits and helmets. A new safety rating system links online and offline play, encouraging drivers to race cleanly and help pair like-minded drivers for improved online racing.
