EA Stops Further Development and Investment For Project CARS Franchise

GamesIndustry has reported EA will stop further development and investment of the Project CARS franchise. Codemasters acquired Slightly Mad Studios back in 2019 before EA swooped in and purchased Codemasters for a cool $1.2 billion, outbidding Take-Two in the process.

“We are working with everyone impacted by this decision to place them into suitable roles across our EA Sports and racing portfolio, as well as other parts of EA, wherever we can. Our priority now is on providing as much support as possible to our people through this transition.”

Project CARS and Project CARS 2 were both recently delisted due to expiring car and track licenses. Players who own either title can still play the full game with all of its features, including multiplayer. The mobile Project CARS Go shut down last year just seven months after launch. Project CARS 3 remains available for now.
