EA Sports FC and UEFA Announce Expanded eChampions League Program

EA Sports FC Pro, the official esports program for EA Sports FC, in collaboration with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), has introduced an expanded eChampions League (eCL) program. Throughout May, Europe’s top 24 competitors from EA Sports FC will represent prestigious European football clubs in the virtual arena, solidifying eCL as the pinnacle of European club football esports.

The upcoming eChampions League season marks the most ambitious edition to date, boasting $280,000 in prizes and introducing a unique club-centric format along with the addition of FC Pro Draft. The eCL will now be exclusive to football clubs, with qualification taking place through FC Pro League competitions across Europe, mirroring the UEFA Champions League (UCL) format. The Group stage and Knockout stage will culminate in the largest eCL Final ever, hosted live in London ahead of the UCL final at Wembley Stadium.

Similar to the FC Pro Open, the eChampions League will incorporate the FC Pro Draft, featuring UCL-themed squad building requirements. Competitors must navigate within a predefined in-game budget based on transfer market values to select UEFA Champions League Ultimate Team player items for their roster. The eChampions League FC Pro Draft, starting with the Group stage, provides players with the opportunity to showcase their football knowledge and creativity as they continually build and adapt their squads on the journey to the eCL Finals.

Fans tuning in at home will have an opportunity to earn exclusive eCL Twitch Drops, unlocking in-game eCL-themed vanity items like player kits. Matches will be streamed live on Twitch and YouTube as well as broadcast by UCL media partners around the world.
