MLB The Show 22
Diamond Dynasty - Home Run Derby X, Moonshot, and More
With today’s Diamond Dynasty update in MLB The Show 22, we’re getting a new Home Run Derby X pack (and various ways to grab the players), a new event, Headliners Set 29, and the San Diego Padres Nike City Connect uniform. Let’s jump into all the drops below.
Moonshot Weekend 4: Home Run Derby X
The Moonshot Event does not provide any “new” players technically since the Home Run Derby X pack is found here and various other places in DD for at least the next couple days (including grabbing a free HRDX pack in the Show Shop). SDS seems to be trying to get a lot of people playing through July 12 in order to snag all these packs in time-limited locations.

- 5 wins – 1,500 XP, HRDX choice pack
This is the sort of content drop I like because outside of Adrian Gonzalez, these are just solid players that you wouldn’t normally get to see after they retire. All of them had brief moments of being really good, but otherwise you remember guys like Soto, Gomes, and Swisher because they were on your teams or just had those singular big moments. They are the sort of players that all these card modes need to stay fresh and keep lineups from stagnating.
On top of that, I would say all four of these cards are better than I expected them to be. They can all theoretically be starters, and they are all rather slow. Nick Swisher would probably be the one I gravitate towards the most looking at the numbers, but this will come down to their swings more than anything.
- 7 wins – Rewind Events pack
- 10 wins – HRDX choice pack, 2,000 XP

Time-Limited Showdown and Conquest
The HRDX Showdown has another HRDX pack at the end of it. There are three mini-boss showdowns before the Final Showdown against Gerrit Cole.
The Conquest map also has an expiration date for July 12 and an HRDX pack at the end of it. There are some other Headliners packs to snag on this map as well.
San Diego Padres Nike City Connect Uniform
Yep. Perfect. Gimme.
Rewards
- 10 points – The Show pack
- 20 points – Universal profile icon
- 30 points – Topps Now Joe Musgrove, 1,000 stubs
Musgrove has his usual solid pitch mix, and 101 H/9 is quite good for this free card. I have actually had some success using his Live Series card, so I think this one has a little potential.
- 35 points – Headliners Set 17 pack
- 40 points – 500 stubs, diamond bat skin
- 45 points – The Show pack (x5)
- 50 points – Padres uniforms, 1,000 stubs

Headliners Set 29 Awards Xander Bogaerts
I was very much looking forward to this card after seeing it was leaked by SDS on their app earlier in the week. Now that I see the card’s stats, I’m not quite as stoked to use it. I do still think it’s going to be a great card (Bogaerts has such a good swing), but I think the contact numbers could have been even more impressive. On top of that, he’s only going to end up with gold fielding at shortstop, so you’re not quite getting the complete package here on defense. When you also factor in the middling speed, he probably will not be a slam dunk starter at shortstop for some folks.
Again, I still want to use the card, but I think his price should not be as crazy as I thought it might be going into this one.
The odds on Headliners packs to pull a diamond are 1:10 (as always), albeit that diamond might not be Awards Xander Bogaerts. In addition, this year you can buy one pack of the Headliners choice pack, which gives you 1:3 odds of pulling a 90+ overall diamond (and of course costs more stubs).
