With today’s Diamond Dynasty update in MLB The Show 22, we get multiple new collection rewards, including Finest Jimmy Rollins. There is also a new Featured Program, a Topps Now update, a new Topps Now collection reward, a new event, and some new packs in The Show Shop. Here we go…
Finest Jimmy Rollins Collection
Finest Jimmy Rollins is the new collection to save up for over time. There are 18 collections you’ll need to put together via vouchers, and you can’t take any of them off as you need 18/18 to snag him. This is one of those collections where if you haven’t been keeping up on things, you’re in for a long haul. However, it is likely worth the wait as even with only one defensive position you’re getting someone with switch-hitting ability and 99 speed across the board. He also doesn’t have the usual massive platoon splits, so this is an everyday player no question. You’ll need at least 20 of the new Faces of the Franchise to get Rollins, so you’ll need to buy a couple of them on the marketplace as of now to snag that specific voucher.
Topps Now Christian Yelich
An old DD favorite comes back to the forefront today as well with Topps Now Christian Yelich being another collection reward. You’ll need 105 Topps Now players, and the main issue might be if you did not keep up with the BR programs since some of those players are hard to come by now without waiting. Outfield is also so packed that this card isn’t something that maybe everyone will even want that bad, but you do need him for Jimmy Rollins.
Finest Roberto Clemente
Another big add came yesterday with Finest Roberto Clemente. He was not super popular last year, but people have come around on his swing this year so this has plenty of people intrigued. This is a secondary program, so you’ll just need to do the missions and moments to get him. The lack of top-end speed probably hurts him a bit, but he does have maxed contact against both LHP and RHP.

Headliners Set 46 Signature Series Jim Rice
One of my favorite players from DD last year returns with a 99 overall version. Signature Series Jim Rice has lower fielding stats than I would like to see, plus not great speed, but his hitting stats are still solid. I don’t think this card can find its way onto my bench due to not being quite elite enough on defense, but it’s always nice to get another Signature Series player.
The odds on Headliners packs to pull a diamond are 1:10 (as always), albeit that diamond might not be Signature Series Jim Rice. In addition, this year you can buy one pack of the Headliners choice pack, which gives you 1:3 odds of pulling a 90+ overall diamond (and of course costs more stubs).
Also, be sure to grab the free Home Run Derby X pack in The Show Shop.
Roster Update For September 16
Jacob deGrom has surged into a tie with Aaron Judge for top overall Live series player. With Judge dropping one point and deGrom going up 2 means they both now sit at 97 overall. On the bright side for Judge, he now has a CF primary position.
Going 90+
- No one joined or left the 90+ club
New Diamonds

Bottom Line
It’s fair to say that the content drops today and yesterday were substantial. If none of the new players and programs can get you excited, then it’s time to probably hang up your spikes for the year and recognize DD (and maybe The Show) has run its course for you for now. This is in the running for the best content drop DD has ever unleashed, so enjoy it if you’re still playing a lot of MLB The Show 22.
