College Football 25: How to Edit Players and Ratings in Dynasty Mode
With the roster update and patch last week for CFB 25, we now have more freedom to edit certain elements of non-NIL players. Here’s what you need to know about how editing players and ratings works now in dynasty mode in College Football 25.
How to Edit Players and Ratings in College Football 25 Dynasty Mode
Here is the note from the patch:
Enabled the ability to edit ratings for non NIL players and recruits.
You have to remember that the rules for the real players (the NIL players) means you can’t touch as much on them. Here’s how Jalen Milroe’s Edit Player screen looks:
And here’s how a non-NIL player’s Edit Player screen looks:
For the non-NIL players (either the fake players on the base roster or your recruits), you can change:
- Name
- Position — be very careful with this one though, it will remove abilities if you change position. And then even if you change back, you do not get those abilities back
- Handedness
- Ratings
- Appearance (physique)
- Gear
For the NIL players, you can only edit Gear. For both NIL and non-NIL players, you cannot change the numbers of the players or things like Hometown, Pipeline, and appearance is restricted to physique (height/weight/arm size/thighs).
The sneaky little catch here is that with the roster update, EA added a bunch of new real players who likely signed their paperwork or transferred late in the process and so EA was waiting on legal to give them the okay before adding these players. However, we believe they added these players by replacing created players with them. They forgot to put the “lock” on these players after changing them from created to real.
So this means players on this new real players list can be edited like a non-NIL player (this list is a work in progress and is still being updated). This might get patched or fixed in a future roster update, but for now it is a loophole for those specific players. In addition, we are currently tracking who the fake players are on every roster, plus we’re also doing some best guesses about some of the players still missing from each roster if you want to maybe change some of the “fake” players that still exist on some rosters into approximations of some of the real ones not available. Those lists are still being updated, so they’re incomplete for now but will continue to be improved in the days ahead.
If you simply want to know how to get to this Edit Player screen within dynasty mode, you’ll want to:
Go to the Team tab –> click View Roster –> scroll to the player you want and click View Player Card (triangle on PS5, Y on Xbox) –> tab over to More and click Edit Player
As a reminder, you can edit players that are not on your team. So even if you’re Alabama, you can go to Kansas State and edit their players — albeit the same rules still apply regardless of what roster you try to edit. Lastly, there is no roster share feature in this game, so any changes you make to your roster are locked to your dynasty.
