ASSETTO CORSA COMPETIZIONE: EARLY ACCESS RELEASE UPDATE AVAILABLE TODAY
New Fan-Requested Content and Features Are Coming to the Popular Racing Sim
Assetto Corsa Competizione – the new official Blancpain GT Series game in development by Kunos Simulazioni and published by 505 Games, introduces a new car, a new circuit and some basic online Multiplayer functionalities, thanks to the update to Early Access version 0.3, coming today on Steam.
Early Access release #3 will feature the firsts Online Multiplayer functionalities, Paul Ricard circuit (Le Castellet – FR) and the new beast: BMW M6 GT3, together with Endurance game mode and a more complex pit-stop system.
The BMW M6 GT3 is one of the most anticipated cars among the game’s community and, just like the Bentley Continental GT3, a completely new entry in the Assetto Corsa universe; it competes in both the Sprint and Endurance Cup of the European Blancpain GT Series, and secured victory at the 2018 Edition of the prestigious Spa-Francorchamps 24H race.
Circuit Paul Ricard is another great addition to the game, reproduced for the first time ever using Laserscan technology, allowing Assetto Corsa to offer the most accurate and detailed version of the French circuit ever seen in a racing simulation.
The new content will be available in both single player and the new multiplayer mode, now available in its first basic iteration allowing racers to join practice sessions with others.
About the multiplayer, online functionalities are in a first deployment state, this means that although the network development is regularly proceeding, the development team will use this Early Access mass test window to enforce the feedback on the Online Systems supporting AC Competizione’s netcode and will gradually introduce all the features that will need testing. Therefore, this build will introduce a very basic multiplayer mode that will allow gamers to join practice sessions on the 3 circuits currently available: Nurburgring GP, Misano Wold Circuit, and Circuit Paul Ricard, but of course you can expect further updates in following months. Full functionalities of the Multiplayer mode will be implemented in the final version of Assetto Corsa Competizione (1.0) – which will debut in Q1 2019- , when the team will have made all their best efforts to make ACC a reference for the four wheels e-sport environment.
From this release, Assetto Corsa Competizione Early Access Steam price-tag will grow to $39.99 USD, as previously announced through our Early Access roadmap and who will buy now, at this price, will access to all EA releases including the final version (1.0) as well. The final game will include all cars and tracks of the ongoing Blancpain GT Season and it will also introduce career and championship modes. Furthermore, a free update will be released during the Summer of 2019, introducing the 2019 Season of the Blancpain GT Series Championship.

“We are glad to open our ‘online multiplayer doors’, giving a very first taste of it to our core Community, that is constantly helping us during this Early Access program. The Assetto Corsa Competizione Online Multiplayer is one of the most difficult aspects for our team because developing it on Unreal Engine 4 by aiming for an equal-to-better quality than what we had in Assetto Corsa has been a completely new challenge for us. During development process we had to face some unforeseen issues that slowered our workflow and prevented us to finalize all the multiplayer features expected for this release update, at the point that we took in consideration the possibility to discard completelely multiplayer from this build…this is definitely one of the risks of any Early Access Program” – says Marco Massarutto, Co-Founder, Brand & Product Executive Manager at KUNOS. “However, we worked night and day to provide you a first bite of what you can expect from our multiplayer mode in the next months succeeding in the implementation of a very basic multiplayer aspect that will allow gamers to join practice sessions on the 3 circuits currently available. This first multiplayer iteration is needed by us to heavy-test our network systems and get the more data we can to fine tune it while gradually including all the Online Multiplayer features expected in the final version, such as: matchmaking, rating, private servers, broadcasting/spectator mode and all the details needed to achieve the best Multiplayer experience that we’ve ever made. This addition gives a great chance to enjoy even more the new content available in this build that introduces the great BMW M6 GT3 and the Circuit Paul Ricard, that will represent a new exciting challenge for the racers, due to its unique layout and landscape. Thanks to the precision granted by the Laserscan Technology, the players will get the same level of depth and accuracy the real drivers use for their own training.”
