Basic

The Basic Chemistry Style offers a small boost to overall stats, without any real specialization. This style can be used on players who are playing multiple roles or who just need an extra boost across the board.

Anchor

Anchor provides a balanced approach, giving players improved defensive and offensive abilities. This makes it ideal for midfielders who need to be able to do both roles effectively.

Architect

This Chemistry Style improves passing and shooting accuracy as well as dribbling and ball control. It also boosts the players’ physical stats including strength, acceleration, and agility, which is highly useful when trying moves like the Elastico.

Artist

Artist boosts creative attributes such as dribbling, ball control, vision, and long passing. It also increases the player’s work rate to give them an extra burst of energy when they need it most.

Backbone

It is designed to increase the player’s physical and defensive attributes. This style is best for players who are known for their strength and tackling ability, as it increases their pace, jumping, tackling, and aggression.

Catalyst

Catalyst provides an increase in acceleration, sprint speed, jumping, strength, and aggression. It also gives players a slight boost to stamina and balance, which can help with running longer distances and staying on their feet during duels.

Deadeye

This Chemistry Style boosts the accuracy of shots taken from outside the box. It increases long shot accuracy, shot power, and curve attributes for any player who has it applied.

Engine

It boosts a player’s overall stats, allowing them to be more effective in different areas of the pitch. Engine styles focus on boosting physical attributes, such as sprint speed, stamina, strength, and aggression, as well as technical attributes like passing accuracy, long shots, and dribbling.

Finisher

Finisher grants players improved potency in front of the goal, with the ability to finish off chances more effectively. It increases shooting accuracy and the power of shots taken from outside the box.

Gladiator

Gladiator gives an extra boost to physical attributes, making players faster and stronger. It also increases defensive capabilities in terms of tackling and marking.

Guardian

This Chemistry Style increases the defensive attributes of your players, such as tackling and marking. It’s perfect for defenders who need to stay on their feet and win the ball back from opposing attackers.

Hawk

Hawk gives players the ability to close down opponents quickly and effectively. It boosts defensive attributes such as interceptions, marking, and tackling.

Hunter

Hunter increases a player’s pace, dribbling, and shooting attributes. This makes it great for players who are looking to be versatile on the pitch as they can use their increased speed and agility to run past defenders or shoot from outside of the box.

Maestro

It offers the most well-rounded combination of stats, boosting six out of the seven main attributes by two points each. The only attribute not boosted is physicality.

Marksman

Marksman boosts all attacking attributes of a player, such as shooting, dribbling, and passing. This style also increases the player’s agility, which helps them get into scoring positions quicker than before.

Powerhouse

This Chemistry Style increases the stats of players in physical-based areas like strength, aggression, and jumping. It also boosts shooting accuracy, sprint speed, and acceleration which can be useful for attackers who want that extra burst of speed or more accurate shots from distance.

Sentinel

Sentinel helps players increase their defensive attributes by granting them improved defensive awareness and positioning, as well as increased tackling ability. This makes it an ideal choice for center backs or defensive midfielders who are looking to protect their goal and stop opponents from scoring.

Shadow

Shadow boosts a player’s defensive attributes, especially tackling, marking, and positioning — whilst slightly decreasing their attacking stats. This makes them more reliable in the back line and suitable for defensive positions such as fullbacks or center backs.

Sniper

Sniper increases long shots, penalties, free kicks, shot power, and curve attributes by up to a maximum of +7 each. This way, your strikers gain an extra edge to score more goals.

Goalkeeper-Specific Chemistry Styles

Basic

Similar to the Basic Chemistry Style found in all other positions, the Basic Chemistry Style for goalkeepers improves their overall attributes. It’s a solid choice if you don’t have any particular traits that you want to emphasize with your goalkeeper and just want them to generally perform better.

Cat

The Cat Chemistry Style is a unique goalkeeper-specific style that improves defensive positioning, goalkeeping, and aerial reach. This style is ideal for keepers who are looking to reduce the number of goals conceded from long shots and crosses.

Glove

The Glove chemistry style is designed to improve the goalkeeper’s handling abilities. It increases the goalkeeper’s reaction speed, as well as their ability to save shots that are taken with power and accuracy.

Shield

This is ideal for goalkeepers who want to focus on their defensive abilities. It provides bonuses to stats like GK diving, GK handling, GK positioning, and GK reflexes. This makes it perfect for any goalkeeper who needs a little boost in their shot-stopping ability or needs some help when dealing with crosses.

Wall

It is designed to help goalkeepers stay in their position and protect the net. It gives them extra reflexes, making it easier for them to save shots from close range. The Wall Chemistry Style also boosts their passing accuracy, allowing them to make longer throws more effectively.

Best Chemistry Style Increases For Each Player Type

(Note: This is all subjective to some extent. You’re going to eventually know how you like certain player types to feel, and from there you use the Chemistry Styles to try and find that sweet spot.)

Attacker Or Striker

  • Deadeye: +3 Shooting, +3 Passing
  • Finisher: +3 Shooting, +3 Physicality
  • Hawk: +2 Pace, +2 Shooting, +2 Physicality
  • Hunter: +3 Pace, +3 Shooting
  • Marksman: +2 Shooting, +2 Dribbling, +2 Physicality
  • Sniper: +3 Shooting, +3 Dribbling

For attackers or strikers, you want to maximize the shooting and physicality stats. The Deadeye chemistry style will increase both of these attributes by 3 points each. Finisher also provides an interesting alternative, increasing shooting and physicality but at the cost of slightly reducing your passing ability.

Defender

  • Anchor: +2 Pace, +2 Defending, +2 Physicality
  • Backbone: +2 Passing, +2 Defending, +2 Physicality
  • Gladiator: +2 Shooting, +3 Defending
  • Guardian: +3 Dribbling, +3 Defending
  • Sentinel: +3 Defending, +3 Physicality
  • Shadow: +3 Pace, +3 Defending

Defenders need to be well-rounded, and these Chemistry Styles offer just that. Anchor is the most common choice for defenders, as it gives them a quick boost in pace and defending, two stats they need to do their job. Backbone provides an overall increase in passing and defending, which is useful if they are expected to contribute more in build-up play.

Gladiator offers a big jump in shooting ability, which can help with set pieces or long shots. Guardian boosts dribbling and defending, perfect for those who like to press high up the field. Sentinel gives a boost in defending and physicality, making them more difficult to get past. And finally Shadow helps with pace and defending, allowing them to stay with attackers when defending.

Goalkeeper

  • Cat: +2 Reflexes, +2 Pace, +2 Positioning
  • Glove: +2 Diving, +2 Handling, +2 Positioning
  • Shield: +2 Kicking, +2 Reflexes, +2 Pace
  • Wall: +2 Diving, +2 Handling, +2 Kicking

The Cat style provides boosts to reflexes, pace, and positioning, making it ideal for players such as goalkeepers who need to react quickly. The Glove style increases diving, handling, and positioning, which makes it perfect for goalkeepers. The Shield style provides a boost to kicking, reflexes, and pace, making it great for midfielders or wingers who need to be able to take on opponents in the open field. Finally, the Wall style increases diving, handling, and kicking — perfect for central defenders who need to be able to clear the ball away from danger.

Midfielder

  • Architect: +3 Passing, +3 Physicality
  • Artist: +3 Passing, +3 Dribbling
  • Catalyst: +3 Pace, +3 Passing
  • Engine: +2 Pace, +2 Passing, +2 Dribbling
  • Maestro: +2 Shooting, +2 Passing, +2 Dribbling
  • Powerhouse: +3 Passing, +3 Defending

Midfielders benefit the most from Architect and Artist chemistry styles, improving their passing and physicality or dribbling respectively. Catalyst is also a good choice as it boosts pace and passing, while Engine gives players more balanced increases in pace, passing, and dribbling. Maestro provides an increase in shooting, passing, and dribbling while Powerhouse offers an advantage in both defending and passing.

Take note that these are all the individual boosts that apply to each chemistry style in FIFA 23, so choosing a chemistry style with multiple increases will be even more beneficial. It’s best to experiment with different combinations to find the best one for your team’s playstyle.
